See It Rising, Stare And Wonder
« Thread Started on May 6, 2007, 7:17pm »

A gentile whisper of dim light upon the pale skin, violet markings eased a degree as the serpentine oculars focused keenly upon the subject in front, laying strapped to the table. The still breath of death lingered within the station of experimental tables, some of which still had breathing objects bound to them, the soft cries and whispers of the souls that remained there, idle and forgotten, left to die by nature's course or by their own hands. Two men stood above one of these forms, which was covered with surgical blankets, thin, light-blue coverings to hide them from the pain of the face below. A dry chuckle rose within the pale figure's throat, ebony tresses swaying as golden eyes rose to peer at the subordinate. "I see, so this one has a strain similar to that of Kimimaro-kun. My, I hope it isn't contagious within the prision-cells. Otherwise, we'll have to leave them twisting in misery without us to care for them. Or, you'll have to do a few extra experiments here and there, Kabuto," the Sannin spoke sweetly, lowering his gaze once more to the body. A limb rose, out to the right, reaching to a small platter of rusty, repeatedly used surgical tools. "These must be my set, your's are always so clean," he chuckled, pulling a surgical knife, rusted, but with a keen edge.

"Oh my, now, where was the tumor again? I've always been curious about these sorts of cancers. Even in healthy bodies, they appear." Orochimaru mused over the length of the knife, marvelling at how filthy he had left it. "It seems I'll have to clean this," casually spoken as he lay it upon the bare belly of the subject, which notably shivered. "Dear me... You haven't made him unconscious yet, Kabuto. You're forgetting to do these simple things sometimes; I hope nothing is distracting you. M'hmhmhm..." the pale Sannin rest his hand upon the cold knife, warming it with his own heat. "Forgive me, my friend beneath the blanket, I'll spare you the pain while we map out your insides like the merciful God I am," the corners of Orochimaru's lips pulled out in a tug, snake-like tongue slipping between them to taste the air. The limb that pressed upon the man's body as it froze beneath Orochimaru's icy touch soon shifted, the sleeve twisting as soon a serpent revealed it's head from beneath the sheath of the arm. It tasted the air and, unblinkingly, obeyed Orochimaru's will.

The snake was soft with it's movements, guiding itself down upon the exposed stomach of the subject, laying upon the knife for a moment, tongue flicking, tasting the air. Alas, the will of it's creator made it move, Orochimaru's smile remaining as it disappeared beneath the surgical blanket towards the hidden cranium. As the snake did so, the body began to struggle, attempting to breath the bonds that held it. "Ooh, don't try that, it will only get harder~." Crooning almost, Orochimaru watched the S-shaped motions of the snake run up the width of the chest of the hidden subject, moving down the pecs of the man and up to the collar bone. Though not visible itself, the snake's form shifted beneath the blanket, the dim light casting soft shadows of contour upon the figures. Soon it seemed to lump, the blankets shifting with both the serpent's motion and the panicking form. A gurgle of breath was heard, and a scream thereafter as the twisting form of the snake coiled around the hidden neck of the man like it's constricting brethren would. The head of the snake peeked out from the end of the blanket for a moment, as though to join Orochimaru in his chuckling as the man beneath the fabric screamed wildly, struggling to escape. "Didn't I tell you I'd help you with the pain?" Orochimaru asked, teasing the man. Orochimaru had almost forgotten about Kabuto, who was on the opposite side of the table, surely amused by this. "If you still, it will be much easier for all of us~!" Orochimaru stated, as suddenly the pure-muscle form of the snake tightened.

There was a loud crack, one of disgusting proportions, numerous vertebre snapping beneath the pressure of the constricting snake's body, bones crushed, spinal collumn broken. All the nervous systems shut down, or rather, those that controlled movement. The screams could still be heard, a gurgle of blood seeping through the blanket where the man's mouth would be. The devious little servant of Orochimaru's disappeared off the side of the table to wander the hallways with it's brethren that already stalked the complex.

With a final chuckle, Orochimaru rest his hand again upon the knife set upon the bound subject's stomach, taking the handle. "Well, then, Kabuto, shall we find out what makes this man tick?"

The wonders of science would never cease to amuse and captivate him. Kabuto stood at the table of a man whom his master had dictated be used in their little jaunt into the human body. A cancer had formed, perhaps due to his incessant treatments of new chemicals on the test subject or perhaps it formed out of genetics or of something else completely. They would soon find out. The silver haired medic let out a faint 'tsking' noise upon seeing the condition of Orochimaru's surgical equipment, his own were as pristine as the day he had received them into the Serpent's service.

"Mine are over here at my station," he confirmed, careful not to mention the original distinguishing factor, that being the untidiness of Orochimaru's tools. It stood to reason that the Snake Sannin's tools would be in ill repair since the man had little interest in the livelihood of a dead man he was about to cut open. Of course this specimen was alive...for the moment. "The tumor is reportedly in his liver, an easy area to biopsy to be sure." He was preparing the drug to put the man into unconsciousness when Orochimaru pointed out his state of awareness. Before Kabuto could answer him or even lift up the needle to show he was about to attend to the matter he saw a snake slithering it's menacing way up to the patient's neck.

Kabuto had little to no love for his patients, they were as much tools to him as the instruments he used on them, yet still it caused a shiver in him to watch the serpentine movements beneath the sheet and hear the blood curdling cries of the dying target of the reptilian therein. At the sound of vertebrae cracking, Kabuto winced but it was a motion unperceived by his sinister companion. "I was about to paralyze him with this," he said while holding up the needle and its contents, "but I think you have truly done him a favor. I ran out of painkillers, this would have simply made him unable to move or make sound but be fully capable of feeling everything."

Turning toward the body in the sheet he pushed his circular glasses back up his nose with a sneer. "You should thank your merciful master that he spared you such torment." Ah, now to get down to the task at hand. Reaching for his scalpel he made a precise incision along the man's abdomen, slicing apart skin and muscle to get into the cavity of his gut. "Now then...let's see what we have inside, shall we?" A grin of pure enjoyment was on his cat like features as he delved into the body, withdrawing the organ in question. There on the blood soaked tissue was a mass and Kabuto pointed it out with practiced ease. "That is where his problem was. Hmmm~" and interested sound filtered through his lips as he surveyed the growth, "it seems to be benign. Though I dare say this lump was a source of great pain for him. Isn't that right #83?" His voice was malicious as he teased the deceased man.

The former Sannin mused, watching as the redness poured from the uncleaned wound, his subordinate's hand soon disappearing into the confines of the subject's torso. A heightened sound of the machine that monitered the subject's heartrate pounded, beeping frantically. Breath moniters calculated an increase of breathing, of course, from the knowledge of the stated organ being toyed with. "Had I known you were preparing medicine, I would have left it to you," he spoke, almost sarcastically, his feminine croak sweetly mixing amongst the screams of the subject. The muscles and contours of the revealed insides were twisted and refined, as any man whose form was nutured by hard-work was. The anatomy of the human form was memorized by his subordinate, whose knowledge was almost unsurpassed even by the Hokage of this present time. Orochimaru had noted a few times before, that Kabuto's talents as a medical shinobi surpassed even the Sannin who specialized in the art. Alas, the organ in question about the cancerous tumor was revealed, obviously after Kabuto decided to make a mess of things. Redness pumped from an open vein, spilling upon the surgical blanket.

"It's rather small, but since it's in the liver, it reduces immunization from a majority of diseases and cannot clean the blood of virus'. Oh my, you're in quite the predicament, my friend." Orochimaru mused, speaking to the victim hidden. An almost comical look came upon Orochimaru's face, a vicious chuckle escaping his throat. "#83? Oh dear, I believe we haven't done enough experiments, or we've neglected a few numbers. The last one we did was #749; so unless our system has an error within it, this one may have escaped life long enough. I was going to say to clean the liver and return it, but, I think we'll let this one pass. After all... Otogakure cannot deal with those below standards~," the serpentine man spoke, the vile twist of his words forcing a scream from the man who lost his liver. Otogakure could not support so many all at once, so some had to be done away with. "What do you suggest we do; Kabuto? Clean him up for another time, use him for some purpose, or simply disgard him? If you need some subjects to test on, then you may have this one when we're done -- but I can't say how much of him will be left~..."

A curving grin made its way across his features as he listened to his master speak. Such a cool voice in the midst of blood and gore, it sent shivers through him to see the man in action. But was it admiration or fear? Or perhaps in part it was anticipation.

"Of course, Master. I have given them all numbers, we have plenty of bodies on hand. This one just happened to develop the tumors more rapidly than his brethren. Hmmm~" he mused curiously while surgically removing the masses to set aside on the tray he had set out, "I wonder if there's a particular reason for it or just his unfortunate luck. We shall see during his autopsy I suppose."

Again he heard the calm voice of his master discussing the use of this empty shell as if he were contemplating the weather or some such frivolity and not a human life. But what else did he expect from the Serpent Sennin. "I'm sure I can find a use for this one, if all else fails I can test a few new jutsu on him. The results are always so much more reliable when you practice on live subjects." As he put the cleansed liver back down into the cavity in which it normally rested, he was grinning a smile that would sicken most while two orbs of light were reflected from his lenses.

The Sannin's golden eyes gleemed as they overlooked Kabuto's messy work, blood stains all the way up his subordinate's arms and gloves, fortifying signs that they truly and perhaps even simply enjoyed their work. Orochimaru watched as the cleaned liver was placed back into the body, correctly or not. "That is very true. I had to keep getting new subjects to work on before I became a Nukenin of Konohagakure; you may have liked my testing room. There were bodies strewn upon the walls, organs in jars all around. I only had one table to test on, though, which was truly a pain. But, all that work did pay off, allowing me to invent my Tensei jutsu," and how that jutsu helped him so, gracing him with the ability to switch bodies once every three years, his mortality no longer of concern to him. "Do as you like with that one, but remember that his neck is broken." The Sannin hoarsely chuckled, turning away from the table with the cut-open body on it, moving to another living cadaver that was set upon another table.

The Sannin picked up the pad of paper, examining the subject's data, causing a thin brow to perk. "Interesting, this one has a Kekkei Genkai. It's one of the Amegakure shinobi that manipulate the keratin of their bodies into harder substances. Have you ever seen one who has learned to use the bloodline limit of that clan? They become more reptilian than I. Quite an amusing clan." Slitted eyes peered over the rim of the clip-board, watching the subject's arm that draped over the side of the table. Musing over the Kekkei Genkai, Orochimaru crouched before the limb, watching as the hairs of the arm began to spread and grow in thickness and size, manipulated by the unconscious shinobi's blood. They became like armor-hide. Lifting a finger to poke them, he exaimined the toughness of it. "Kabuto, might I have something to pry one of these scales off?"
